UMI Torqure Arm Kits


An affordable suspension upgrade is now available for your F-Body vehicle. This non-adjustable transmission mounted torque arm features all the same build specifications as our adjustable units for a fraction of the price. The factory torque arm bends, breaks and flexes under the smallest loads causing inconsistency and down time to the driver. This problem is a simple fix by adding a direct replacement torque arm from UMI Performance. This tubular torque arm bolts directly in place of the factory unit using existing mounting holes and requires no drilling or welding, it is a direct bolt-on. The torque arm is designed to eliminate wheel hop under hard acceleration and reduces 60-foot times instantly. This non-adjustable unit is preset at -2 degrees of pinion angle to insure best traction and performance from the vehicle, no adjustments need made, just bolt on and go!

Also included with this tubular set-up is a new low deflection Energy Suspension front bushing designed to replace the stock rubber bushing and bolts directly in the existing clamshell. Fits GM 10-Bolt rear-ends, Moser and Strange 12-Bolts as well as most 9” housings. Please Note: The -2 degree setting is on a stock ride height vehicle.

Redesigned and now offered with instant center adjustment!

This torque arm is now supplied with pivot brackets that allow (2) settings to allow easy instant center adjustment. By simply moving the torque arm into the next location you can automatically change the instant center point of the vehicle. This is very crucial on low to mid horse-power cars and can easily lower 60-foot times.

1993-1997 Models- This unit is designed to clear with factory exhaust manifolds and factory y-pipe. The drive shaft loop may not clear aftermarket y-pipe set-ups, please confirm before purchasing.

1998-2002 Models- This unit is designed to clear vehicles running Kooks long tube headers with a Kooks y-pipe. It will not clear the factory y-pipe and may not clear aftermarket y-pipes that bolt into the factory manifolds. Please confirm fitment before purchasing.

Front Drive Shaft Loop- UMI Performance offers this torque arm with a NHRA legal drive shaft safety loop. Please note the front drive shaft loop will clear all 93-97 models and 98-02 models with Kooks long tube header systems and Kooks y-pipe. It will NOT clear 98-02 models with stock y-pipe and most y-pipes bolting to stock exhaust manifolds, drive shaft loop will clear 93-97 models with stock y-pipe. Eliminate unwanted traction problems by adding a UMI Performance Tunnel Braced Mounted Torque Arm. This aftermarket torque arm replaces the flimsy weak stock torque arm adding strength, rigidity and eliminating flex. Our torque arm design relocates the front torque arm mounting point off the transmission tail shaft protecting the transmission and preventing damage. A shorter torque arm improves weight transfer on acceleration. General Motors tail shaft mounted design works great for a stock driven vehicle however it is not designed to take abuse. This set-up bolts to existing floor pan holes using 0.500” thick mild steel CNC machined mounting plates and metric grade 10.9 hardware. The complete cross brace is constructed of 0.120” thick rectangular tubing and attaches to the torque arm using 0.250” thick mild steel mounting pivot plates with Grade 8 hardware. The torque arm is attached to the supplied cross brace using an Energy Suspension polyurethane bushing set-up on both the supplied cross brace and torque arm (See Picture Below). Polyurethane was chosen as a mounting point to keep road noise at a minimum and eliminate unwanted “clunks” found with other set-ups available. This unit is designed with a drop down front cross member to clear most to all aftermarket header/y-pipe set-ups on the market. This system has been confirmed to clear with Hooker Header/y-pipe system, Pacesetter headers with Pacesetter y-pipe and TSP y-pipe also SLP header/y-pipe system as well as many others. If you are running Kooks long tube header set-up we recommend our other version since this system tucks up very nicely, please CLICK HERE if you are running a Kooks set-up.

Front Drive Shaft Loop- This item is not supplied with a built in drive shaft loop. Please see item # 2203 for this torque arm with built in front drive shaft loop.

A: This kit is 100% bolt in and requires no drilling, no cutting and no welding. It bolts in place of the stock cross member using the existing holes.

Note: This product must be used with a solid one-piece polyurethane bushing. It will not work with the factory bushing that utilizes a two-piece design. 2218 F Body Tunnel Mounted Torque Arm TH400 No Loop
This tunnel mounted torque arm is designed to work with a TH400 (Short tail Only) transmission installed into an 82-92 Camaro or Firebird. This item is supplied with a transmission crossmember with provisions to install a TH400 and a new shorter style adjustable torque arm. The TH400 transmission does not have provisions to mount the factory torque arm onto the transmission tail shaft. This set-up makes the TH400 transmission swap an easy 100% bolt in installation.





This torque arm set-up is designed to remove the front mounting point of the torque arm off the transmission, protecting the tail shaft from damage. This torque arm is supplied with pivot brackets that allow (2) settings to allow easy instant center adjustments. By simply moving the torque arm into the next location you can automatically change the instant center point of the vehicle. This is very crucial on low to mid horse-power cars and can easily lower 60-foot times. This set-up bolts to existing floor pan holes using 0.188” thick mild steel CNC machined mounting plates and metric grade 10.9 hardware. The complete cross brace is constructed of 0.120” thick rectangular tubing and attaches to the torque arm using 0.250” thick mild steel mounting pivot plates with Grade 8 hardware. The torque arm is attached to the supplied cross brace using an Energy Suspension polyurethane bushing set-up on both the supplied cross brace and torque arm. Polyurethane was chosen as a mounting point to keep road noise at a minimum and eliminate unwanted “clunks” found with other set-ups available. The grease-able polyurethane bushings absorb road irregularities and protect noise from entering the passenger compartment. The rear mounting points feature 0.375” thick CNC machined mounting plates and are appropriately drilled to fit your stock rear as well as aftermarket 12-Bolt and 9” Rear-end housings. This set-up requires no welding or drilling and can be installed with basic hand tools; this is a complete bolt-in design!




Front Drive Shaft Loop- This item is supplied with a NHRA legal drive shaft loop and is designed to work with drive shafts up to 3” in diameter.
